Happy Holidays and a Slice of Humble Pie

With the Holidays approaching I wanted to take the time to send a note out from this new page of our website.  It’s called “The Weight of my Wordz” and it will serve as the blog from tuggmusic.com

We’ve had quite an amazing week and in reflection I’ve been overwhelmed with a feeling of great gratitude; now here I sit…completely humbled.  I’ve been singing, writing, and playing with TUGG since it’s inception in 2001.  As with any journey it’s certainly had its fair share of ups, downs, and all around in-betweens…

Sunday December 18th, 2011 will be a day that I will never forget.  Being a musician, especially one with a day job, is an interesting tango.  Our passion and love of playing and performing our own brand of music is just as deep and genuine as the bands out there living in tour buses and driving from city to city.  Sometimes we are lucky enough to be the ones out on the road, and even better yet, sometimes we find ourselves on the road and sharing stages with these full-time warriors.

What happened this Sunday was unexpected to say the least.   At the most we thought it would be pretty cool to break into the Top 25 of the iTunes reggae charts, even if only for 1 day.  The outpour of love, support, and willingness to help us share the incredible fruits of our labor was breathtaking….truly.

I am now tasked with the job of somehow trying to conjure up the words to express our huge debt of thanks.  It’s impossible.  I can only hope that you see the sheer honesty in the words that I now write.

This whole process; one of writing, recording, and producing our album Home Brew has been one of growth; growth as people, family members, friends, musicians, and as a group.  The resulting factor and chart successes are unfathomable but they are also unwarranted.  We still do this because, in all honesty if you took away the institution, the band name, the albums, and the shows you would still find 4 men that love to play music and express themselves creatively.  You would find us with various groups and performers, open jams, and open auditions because it is written in our DNA. It is what we’ve always done and most likely what we’ll always do.

In closing, I can only offer these 2 words and I hope and pray that you find the volume of meaning within them………Thank you.
You have given us a new found energy and belief in ourselves, and our craft, and we look forward to channeling that into this New Year.

So from our TUGG family to yours Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year!

Dream big in 2012, you can rest assure that we will do the same.
